Sherman County Historical Society Sherman County Historical Museum goes on the road again with A North End Journey on Saturday, June 27, especially for curious teachers and newcomers, and reminiscing old-timers. Riders will sign in at the Museum in Moro at 10 a.m. and the bus will leave shortly after, going across Gordon Ridge, past Gordon Butte, down Fulton Canyon and west to Deschutes State Park. From there the journey follows the Columbia River upstream to Biggs, Rufus and the John Day Dam, then up Scott Canyon and through the wind farms to Hay Canyon and Moro.
Topics will include rivers, roads, Oregon Trail, settlement, agriculture, The Dalles Military Road and wind energy. Layered clothing, walking shoes, camera, binoculars and sunglasses are suggested. In celebration of Oregon’s 150th birthday, lunch will be provided and there is no charge. Limited to 16 on a first-call basis, registration is required by 5 p.m. on June 22.
