Sherman County Historical Society and Museum Open Daily 10 until 5 May through October |
News Release. June 6, 2009
Sherman County Historical Society Sherman County Historical Museum volunteers will offer rare Museum-Behind-the-Scenes tours of artifact storage and archives on Sunday, June 14, before and following the Sherman County Historical Society’s 1 p.m. annual meeting and program in Moro.
The Museum holds over 12,000 artifacts - paper, wood, metal, glass, plastic, textiles, feathers, fur and leather… all requiring a clean, secure, pest-free, climate-controlled environment. Recent artifact storage improvements include floor covering funded by individual donors, and acid-free document and photograph sleeves, artifact storage boxes, a quilt storage rack, saddle racks, steel shelving and filing cabinets funded by the Oregon Heritage Commission. Tours will be limited to eight persons each at 11 a.m., 12 noon and 3 p.m., providing a new perspective on the museum. The tour requires stairway access and the Museum cannot accommodate visitors with limited mobility. Registration on a first call basis is required by June 12. There is no charge for the tours. Call the Museum at 541.565.3232 to make your reservation for one of the Museum-Behind-the-Scenes tours!
