Moro, Ore. -- It’s contagious … the energy and enthusiasm in the ranks of the all-volunteer Museum Team working behind-the-scenes on Wednesdays this winter at the Sherman County Historical Museum.
Each volunteer plays a part in carrying out the Mission to, “gather, preserve, research, interpret, exhibit and publish materials relevant to the history of Sherman County.”
This winter, The Museum Team is pleased to welcome two new members.
Forest Peters Makelim assumed management of The Museum Store with responsibility for inventory, purchasing, sales and display. She brings a wide-range of experience to the task of earned-income, and will focus on locally-produced products related to the collections.
Carol MacKenzie began her work with the Museum’s documentary evidence collection, photographs and paper artifacts. Her interest in county history is strengthened by a willingness to learn how to handle valuable, fragile documents while providing a public service. Her first assignment is to locate photographs in response to requests for copies.
Experienced volunteers, Registrar Nancy Fields and Exhibit Team members Pat von Borstel and Myrna Melzer are working with records and the collections in storage and exhibits this winter. Volunteer Coordinator Gladys Wesley is preparing for the Museum Host orientation. Security Team Leader Kathleen Ahearn is working on museum security issues. Museum Director Sherry Kaseberg is focusing on marketing, operations and management.
