Sherman County Museum Auction
The
Sherman County Historical Society/Museum is pleased to announce that its first
ever fundraising auction made over five thousand dollars for the museum's
general operations fund. Historical Society treasurer Nancy Fields
reported that after expenses the auction netted $5,115.60. The auction was held
on November 16, 2003, in conjunction with the annual fall historical society
meeting and the museum volunteer's recognition luncheon.
Society members, individuals and businesses both in and around Sherman County,
made generous donations of items and services to be auctioned off. Enough items
and services were donated that it became necessary to have two auctioneers for
the event. Enthusiastic bidders at the Sunday afternoon auction resulted
in a very successful and entertaining fundraising event.
The Board of Trustees of the Sherman County Historical Society voted to make the
auction an annual November event. Chairperson Dorothy Benson, who organized this
years fundraising auction has already had offers of items for next years
auction.
The Board of Trustees, and museum director wish to thank everyone who helped
make this fundraising event a success.
The Board and Museum Director also extend an invitation to everyone to visit the
museum during the month of December, as the museum will be open every weekend in
December until Christmas. You can visit the national award-winning museum
and do your holiday shopping in the Museum Store. Museum hours for December
weekends are 11:00a.m. - 4:00p.m. If you have questions, call the museum
at 541-565-3232.
