The Sherman County Historical Museum was among twenty-nine Oregon communities and organizations that were awarded matching grants totaling $114,500 to develop visitor industry projects, according to Museum President, Erling Jacobsen, Moro. These grants were funded by the Oregon Tourism Commission with some partnership funding by the USDA-Forest Service. Grant applicants requested partial funding for high-priority tourism industry projects, including marketing materials and programs, exhibits, maps, planning and studies. Sherman County Historical Museum was one of two Central Oregon region organizations to receive matching funds. This project, with Museum and Tourism Commission funding and in-kind goods and services, produced a museum web site produced by Kaseberg Design with additional funds from James and Andrea Siscel; a sign produced by Pat and Erling Jacobsen for the new agricultural and conservation exhibit building; and reprinting the museum’s rack card, and two brochures. Match was is in the form of copy writing, brochure distribution, sign installation, web hosting and county funding for the visitor center. |
