Pioneer Life Celebrated in'Journey Through Time'

Sherman County Museum in Moro will be the focal point for living history displays, butter-churning, wagon rides, a mountain man encampment and other activities.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, there will be an Old-Fashioned Fun Day in the city park, featuring sack races, three-legged races, a penny hunt for ages 3 through 5, gold panning, a dunk tank, skillet toss, sack sewing, crocheting, tatting, hardanger, horse-shoeing and cross-stitching.

Also on Saturday, there will be a free dance from 8 to 10 p.m. featuring the Mill Creek String Band from The Dalles and Bill Martin from Vancouver; dance-steps will include round dances, contra dances and square dances.

On Sunday, Aug. 23 there will be an 11 a.m. church service, with gospel music by Dick and June Bell of Grass Valley and the Mud Springs Gospel Band of Madras. An ice cream social will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m., and a cribbage tournament is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. ($5 entry fee).
