The Society's members, about half living in the county, provide strong support. Our Mission is to gather, preserve, research, interpret and exhibit objects and materials related to Sherman County. The Society, which operates the Museum, was organized in 1945 and began an important photograph collection, including the work of Will Raymond of Moro. |

| "Grass Valley
built an electric light plant, the juice being made by a dynamo motivated
by a one-cylinder gasoline engine that was started at dusk and kept running
until ten o'clock when after a warning clink it was allowed to expire with
some animal sounding gasps."
